Buy the Best Roller Blades for Sale
When you are looking to buy a set of inline skates, or roller blades, there are many things to consider. Especially if this is your first set of inline skates you will want to take your time and educate yourself so that you know what you are looking for. For someone who does not want to spend a lot of money looking outside of retail stores can be a good idea. This will likely mean looking at lots of ads that say something like “roller blades for sale.”
Like most, you will probably look in a newspaper or searching on-line at sites like ebay. It will be important that you read several reviews and explanations of the kinds of inline skates and their features. To help you out, here is a brief explanation of the kinds of inline skates.
There are five main types of inline skates: beginner skates, speed skates, hockey skates, figure skating skates, and aggressive skates. You might be thinking, “Wow, I didn’t know that people used inline skates for all of those things.” Today there are quit a few inline skate options. How can you identify and differentiate these skating boots from each other?
Let’s start with beginner skates. Beginner skates usually have three or four wheels. (The more wheels a skate has the faster it goes.) The cut for the boot on beginner skates is usually higher, as this adds more ankle support. Next, consider speed skates, hockey skates, and figure skates. These skates typically have four roller blade wheels. (Inline figure skates have 3 or 4 wheels, and speed skates sometimes have five wheels.) Wheels on speed skates are consistently bigger than wheels for hockey skates, and much bigger than inline skate wheels for figure skates.
Bigger wheels can increase the top speed of a skate but it makes them harder to turn. Because in hockey there is a great need to be able to turn well, hockey skates tend to have smaller wheels. Turning and spinning is also essential to inline figure skating and so you will find the wheels on these skates to be even smaller. Inline hockey skates and skates use for figure skating commonly are lace-up. This feature can quickly tell you what kind of skate you are looking at.
One final kind of inline skate is the aggressive inline skate. This may be a foreign phrase to you as it was for me. Aggressive skates refer to skates that are designed and used primarily to perform tricks in skate parks and on the street. These skates have from two to four wheels and are specifically designed for grinds, slides, aerial tricks, and other difficult skating moves. The wheels are small for quick turning and acceleration. This style of skate is used for extreme skating.
Other things that will be important for you to know something about are the brakes, bearings, wheel materials, and wheel shape. Whether you read a sign in a store window that says “roller blades for sale” or you see and ad on-line for inline skates keeping the above mentioned facts in mind will help you. When it comes to buying any kind of sporting equipment knowing what you are looking for and knowing what you are looking at are key components for success.
